I have a YouTube channel about big ideas, encompassing anything from technology, business, sports and economics. The channel is aptly named While On Break, as is the name of this very publication. The YouTube channel is the place of source where almost everything emanates. However, the format of the channel is, or will be as time goes on, more idea oriented and intellectually abstract, in a fun way. The density of the channel’s content calls for more supporting material, one that would be unsuitable for the production efforts on YouTube.
This publication, also named While On Break, is a companion newsletter to the YouTube channel. On thursdays, the newsletter drops, preceded by a main video on YouTube. Each week, I take the ideas from my latest video and expand them into practical lists, recommendations, observations, and rabbit holes worth exploring.
Occasionally there’s a lot of content and ideas that don’t fit into or are not worth the production costs of a full YouTube video. On such occasions, I publish bonus standalone newsletters on Monday.
Put plainly, if the videos explain why something works the way it does, the newsletter focuses on where else you'll see it. Expect curated resources, interesting examples, and concise insights across technology, business, sports, economics, and the systems that connect them.
